for various reasons, my closet always seems to be lacking in the cold-weather day dress department. instead, my dress collection is made up almost entirely of spring / summer options and fall / winter cocktail styles. not very helpful when something pops up this time of year requiring an outfit only a little more dressy than my go-to jeans-and-a-top look.
so, when we decided to head out to keeneland for the races last weekend, I tore through my closet like a maniac, looking for something to wear. at the last minute, I realized that this lilly dress (which I picked up during the after party sale earlier this year; no longer available, but similar here, here) worked really well paired with my favorite tweed blazer (from last year - but similar here). the tweed (plus a neutral pashmina) made the dress much more appropriate for the fall.
I finished off my keeneland look with our brand new if you can dream it earrings in navy and the em signet bracelet - two extremely classic styles.
