happy november, everybody! I'm still feeling a little blindsided by november's arrival (this year has floooown by), but I'm really excited about the holiday season and getting to spent some quality time with family and friends. and, november and december always seem like the coziest months of the year to me: big, slouchy sweaters; warm blankets; scarves, hats, and gloves galore; hot chocolate...you get the picture.
speaking of big, slouchy sweaters, I discovered the one I'm wearing here when I was home visiting my parents a couple weekends ago. it's my mom's (now, mine), and is seriously the warmest, least-itchy sweater I've ever worn. of course, being that it was my mom's from years ago, it's no longer available in stores :), but I've linked some similar styles below.
the vest, though, is an entirely different story. this vest - my new favorite - is on massive sale at jcrew right now, and is a truly perfect layering piece. it's incredibly thin, but still manages to pack in the warmth. I love that it doesn't add unnecessary bulk, making it ideal for wearing over big sweaters - and, it's style is incredibly classic. definitely a piece I'll be wearing year after year.
also - note my necklace - one of the new arrivals landing in the online store this week! I'm in love with the color of this one - it's a perfect year-round piece. really. follow along on instagram, facebook, and / or twitter to be among the first to know when the new arrivals are here!

contrast the slouchiness of an oversized sweater by pairing it with a more dressed-up statement necklace. a crewneck sweater in a single color (or simple pattern) is a wonderful backdrop for a statement piece, and the jewelry will help your outfit look more put-together.
when wearing a vest - or some other layer with a stand-up collar - shy away from excessively large earrings, which can snag on the collar. instead, opt for studs or smaller dangly styles.
