I'm looking forward to a fairly quiet, low-key weekend - but before getting to that, I want to look back to last weekend for a minute, the theme of which was definitely 'racing'. we were lucky enough to kick off the weekend at the breeders' cup horse races, which were held here at keeneland for the first time ever, and wound things down on sunday by cheering on my sisters-in-law (remotely), who were running in the nyc marathon. needless to say, when monday rolled around, I had found the motivation I needed to get out for a run...
we found out pretty last-minute that we were going to be able to go to the breeders' cup, and so, of course, I had "nothing to wear." thankfully, I found this gorgeous dress at anthropologie (now on huuuuuugesale!), which worked really well layered over a tissue tee for a little...) extra warmth.
also, I've just started making some of my instagram posts shopable - so, if you don't already, follow along, and sign up at shopstyle.it to get items pictured sent straight to your inbox!

boldly patterned clothes don't need equally as bold jewelry. keep accessories minimalistic and, if wearing jewelry with colored enamel or stones, stick to colors in the same palate as your clothes.
when dressing for a more traditional event or occasion (like a day at the races), stick to ladylike and / or understated jewels. I went with our bright lights earrings for the breeders' cup, but our onasis earrings and necklace are two other wonderfully classic options.
